Accounts of assaults, arbitrary detentions, and two homicides by police in less than a week have marked a bloody end to the year in Buenos Aires.

The "libertarian" government will appeal the ruling by Federal Administrative Judge Martín Cormick, which nullified the so-called "Anti-Protest Protocol," after determining that public administration lacks the authority to enact regulations infringing on basic constitutional rights such as freedom of assembly, the right to petition authorities, and freedom of expression.
