Legislator Daniela Serrano emphasized the strategic importance District 12 will play in the upcoming presidential runoff between Jeannette Jara and José A. Kast: "Undoubtedly, this territory will be crucial for a second round that we will face with strong outreach, focused on advancing social rights against a far-right candidate who only signifies cuts and setbacks," the legislator reiterated.

Evidence gathered by the Public Ministry, presented to the Vicuña Court, indicates that Grohs had a heated argument with his partner while driving from La Serena to Vicuña on December 15, 2023, ultimately leading to him physically assaulting her on the legs while she was holding their child in the back seat.

Following his victory, the current deputy from the Frente Amplio declared, "From today, we will start working to win in the second round with Jeannette Jara. Let hope overcome fear for a better life. We will travel across all 38 municipalities in our region and put our feet on the ground for Jara."

The Congress is dominated by the right, who will comfortably secure majorities in the Chamber of Deputies, yet will encounter more resistance in the Senate. A neoliberal and security-focused agenda is likely to advance smoothly in the Congress, facing minimal opposition, including measures against migration and penal populism, along with tax cuts for businesses among other authoritarian neoliberal policies.

The elected legislator emphasized the necessity of uniting against José Antonio Kast's candidacy, stating: "What is at risk is democracy. José Antonio Kast represents everything Chile does not need: regressions in social rights and women's rights. José Antonio Kast is a danger, and this should unite and strengthen all democratic forces in the country," reiterated the senator elected in the Valparaíso Region with over 170,000 votes.

With less than 3% of the vote, Congresswoman Maria Luisa Cordero and singer Pablo Herrera were both excluded from Congress, carrying their controversies with them.

"We will have intense days ahead, but those are the types of days I enjoy. What is life for if not to fight against inequality, to live it intensely and joyfully, embracing one another as the only homeland we have? Those who divide us and sow hate are doing a terrible disservice to the future of Chile," stated the Unity for Chile candidate in her first speech following victory in the first round of the presidential election.

Presidential candidate Jeannette Jara cast her vote and stated, "If I am elected President, I hope that achieving financial stability at the end of the month becomes a reality in Chile, along with the security of living in a more peaceful neighborhood."

Right-wing accounts are circulating false allegations of electoral fraud using marked vote images from a different district, raising suspicions of isolated sabotage aimed at a disinformation campaign.

An investigation by Fastcheck reveals that three key advisors to Kast have received $76.2 million from roles in the Public High Management System between 2018 and 2025. This contrasts sharply with the 'Parasites' column written by his spokesperson, Cristián Valenzuela, who has amassed $33 million from his work within the State.
